| WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their | ||
| memories of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega Jr., who | ||
| tragically passed away in the line of duty on August 3, 2014, at | ||
| the age of 36; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The son of Javier and Marie Vega, Javier Vega was | ||
| born in La Feria on June 17, 1978, and he grew up with the | ||
| companionship of a brother, Jordy; after graduating from La Feria | ||
| High School, he answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted | ||
| in the U.S. Marine Corps; in 2008, following his military | ||
| service, he embarked on a career in law enforcement when he | ||
| joined the U.S. Border Patrol; taking great pride in his job, he | ||
| worked as a K-9 handler at the Kingsville Station; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Agent Vega benefited from | ||
| the love and support of his wife, Andrea Brown Vega, and his three | ||
| sons, Javier, Jiovanni, and Jarod; in his leisure hours, he | ||
| enjoyed fishing and running; above all else, he treasured time | ||
| spent with his loved ones; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texans owe a debt of gratitude to the men and | ||
| women of law enforcement that the passage of time can never | ||
| diminish, and Agent Vega's commitment to protecting the safety | ||
| and well-being of the public will forever be remembered by all | ||
| those who had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life | ||
| of Javier Vega Jr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family, | ||
| friends, and former colleagues; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns | ||
| this day, it do so in memory of Javier Vega Jr. | ||
