Sandra Carothers |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |
|
|
with the passing of Sandra L. Williams Carothers of Tyler on |
|
|
July 12, 2025, at the age of 79; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The former Sandra Williams was born to Donald and |
|
|
Wilma Williams on February 18, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio; she |
|
|
graduated from Euclid High School and earned an education degree |
|
|
from The Ohio State University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1968, she exchanged wedding vows with the love |
|
|
of her life, Thomas Carothers, and they shared a fulfilling |
|
|
marriage that spanned five and a half decades before his death in |
|
|
May 2024; the couple raised four children, Thomas, Krista, |
|
|
Katherine, and James, and they later welcomed three precious |
|
|
grandchildren into their family; Mrs. Carothers loved bringing |
|
|
her grandchildren together to play, read, and produce magic |
|
|
shows; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Carothers and her family eventually moved to |
|
|
Corpus Christi; there, she embarked on a rewarding career as a |
|
|
first- and second-grade teacher at Wilma Magee Elementary School |
|
|
in the Calallen Independent School District; over the course of |
|
|
her 20-year tenure, she fostered a supportive classroom |
|
|
environment, and she took pride in teaching all of her students |
|
|
how to read; engaged with school district activities, she worked |
|
|
the concession stand at Calallen High School football games in |
|
|
support of the marching band; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. Carothers was a valued |
|
|
congregant at Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church in Corpus |
|
|
Christi; in retirement, she and her husband relocated to Clyde, |
|
|
Ohio, where she served as an elder at the First Presbyterian |
|
|
Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although Sandra Carothers will be deeply missed, |
|
|
she has left her loved ones with a wealth of memories that they |
|
|
will forever treasure; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life |
|
|
of Sandra L. Williams Carothers and extend heartfelt sympathy to |
|
|
the members of her family: to her children and their spouses, |
|
|
Thomas Carothers and Tadao Uchisawa, Krista Carothers and Jim |
|
|
Meddick, Katherine and Jeremy McBain, and James and Catherine |
|
|
Carothers; to her grandchildren, Jack Meddick, Malcolm McBain, |
|
|
and Colin McBain; to her sister, Nancy Crane, and her husband, |
|
|
Bob; to her sisters-in-law, Susan Carter and Connie Beeken; and |
|
|
to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
|
this day, it do so in memory of Sandra Carothers. |
