Janet Creasman |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Janet Anderson Creasman of Tyler passed away on |
|
|
January 15, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving behind a wide circle |
|
|
of loved ones to cherish her memory; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of Asheville, North Carolina, the former |
|
|
Janet Anderson was born on September 26, 1941, to Dr. John Bascom |
|
|
Anderson and Maude Nanney Anderson; after graduating from Lee |
|
|
Edwards High School in Asheville, she earned a degree in |
|
|
elementary education at the University of Tennessee; while at |
|
|
college, she met her future husband, Donald Reid Creasman, and |
|
|
the pair went on to exchange wedding vows on September 7, 1963; |
|
|
they shared a remarkable 50 years of marriage and raised three |
|
|
children, Scott, Kelly, and Ashley; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After working as an elementary and preschool |
|
|
teacher, Mrs. Creasman devoted herself full-time to her home and |
|
|
children; the family relocated several times due to |
|
|
Mr. Creasman's career, and they eventually settled in Tyler in |
|
|
1977; when her children were grown, Mrs. Creasman returned to |
|
|
work part-time at the Brookshire's World of Wildlife Museum & |
|
|
Country Store; she enthusiastically supported her husband, |
|
|
children, and grandchildren in all their endeavors, and later in |
|
|
life, she embraced her role as a great-grandmother as well; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Creasman was a woman of strong faith, and she |
|
|
was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church and the Bridge |
|
|
Builders Sunday school class; in addition, she found time to |
|
|
volunteer with the Junior League of Tyler, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, |
|
|
and the Women's Symphony League of Tyler; outside of her volunteer |
|
|
commitments and her time with family, she surrounded herself with |
|
|
many dear friends, and she endeared herself readily to others with |
|
|
her caring and cheerful nature; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, |
|
|
Janet Creasman will be deeply missed, and those who held her dear |
|
|
will forever remember the joy and happiness she brought into |
|
|
their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
|
of Janet Anderson Creasman and extend heartfelt sympathy to the |
|
|
members of her family: to her children, Scott Creasman and his |
|
|
wife, Lauren, Kelly Buckner and her husband, Jason, and Ashley |
|
|
Odom and her husband, Chris; to her grandchildren, Dr. Elisabeth |
|
|
Barnhart, Kristy Burns, Michelle McMeans, Lindsay Creasman, |
|
|
Holden, Hunter, and Blake Buckner, and Austin, Allison, and |
|
|
Abigail Odom; to her great-grandchildren, Hailey, Madison, and |
|
|
Isabelle; to her siblings, Mary Sue Temple and her husband, John, |
|
|
and J. B. Anderson Jr. and his wife, Cathie; and to her other |
|
|
relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
|
this day, it do so in memory of Janet Creasman. |
