| BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Under current state law, the judge of the 43rd Judicial District is automatically designated as the chairman of the juvenile board of Parker County. The bill author has informed the committee that judges that are board members have requested that this designation be removed so that the board can elect one of its members as chairman. H.B. 5667 seeks to satisfy this request by replacing the provision designating the judge of the 43rd Judicial District as the chairman of the board with a provision requiring the board to elect one of its members as chairman.
