| WHEREAS, Joseph C. Longway is retiring as the Northwest | ||
| Region chief of the Texas Department of Public Safety on August | ||
| 31, 2025, drawing to a close an exceptional career with the | ||
| agency that has spanned more than 36 years; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Joe Longway joined the ranks of the Texas | ||
| Department of Public Safety in October 1988, and after completing | ||
| training at the DPS Academy, he was stationed in Amarillo as a | ||
| highway patrol officer; he was later assigned to Houston, Groom, | ||
| and Lubbock, and he served as a narcotics investigator before | ||
| joining the criminal investigations division in 2009; he was | ||
| appointed as regional director in August 2019, and he has since | ||
| provided exceptional leadership to the agency's Northwest Texas | ||
| Region; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Air Force, | ||
| Mr. Longway holds a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist | ||
| University and an associate's degree from Chaminade University | ||
| of Honolulu; over the years, he has honed his abilities through | ||
| training at the DEA Drug Unit Commander's Academy, the | ||
| Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command, and the | ||
| FBI National Academy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Joe Longway has greatly benefited the people of | ||
| Texas through his stalwart dedication to the highest standards of | ||
| the law enforcement profession, and it is a pleasure to recognize | ||
| him as he concludes his remarkable tenure of public service; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Joseph | ||
| C. Longway on his retirement as the Northwest Region chief of the | ||
| Texas Department of Public Safety and extend to him sincere best | ||
| wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Longway as an expression of high regard from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
