| BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE On July 31, 2021, Austin police officer Lewis "Andy" Traylor died from injuries sustained in a collision with an 18-wheeler three days prior, making him the 24th Austin police officer to die in the line of duty, as reported by the Austin American-Statesman. H.B. 2415 seeks to honor Officer Traylor by designating a portion of Farm-to-Market Road 969 in Travis County in his memory.

| ANALYSIS H.B. 2415 amends the Transportation Code to designate the portion of Farm-to-Market Road 969 in Travis County between its intersection with Decker Lane and its intersection with U.S. Highway 183 as the Senior Police Officer Lewis "Andy" Traylor Memorial Highway, in addition to any other designation. The bill requires the Texas Department of Transportation, subject to a grant or donation of funds, to do the following: ·design and construct markers indicating the designation as the Senior Police Officer Lewis "Andy" Traylor Memorial Highway and any other appropriate information; and ·erect a marker at each end of the highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
H.B. 2415 establishes the legislature's intent that the provisions added by the bill be renumbered to prevent multiple provisions with the same designation. |

| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, | ||
| is amended by adding Section 225.250 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 225.250. SENIOR POLICE OFFICER LEWIS "ANDY" TRAYLOR | ||
| MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a) The portion of Farm-to-Market Road 969 in | ||
| Travis County between its intersection with Decker Lane and its | ||
| intersection with U.S. Highway 183 is designated as the Senior | ||
| Police Officer Lewis "Andy" Traylor Memorial Highway. The | ||
| designation is in addition to any other designation. | ||
| (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall: | ||
| (1) design and construct markers indicating the | ||
| designation as the Senior Police Officer Lewis "Andy" Traylor | ||
| Memorial Highway and any other appropriate information; and | ||
| (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at | ||
| appropriate intermediate sites along the highway. | ||
| SECTION 2. It is the intent of the 89th Legislature, Regular | ||
| Session, 2025, that the provisions added by this Act be renumbered | ||
| to prevent multiple provisions with the same designation. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
