| WHEREAS, For 125 years, the International Alliance of | ||
| Theatrical Stage Employees, Local 76, has played a crucial role | ||
| in supporting and advocating for the rights of skilled laborers | ||
| in San Antonio's entertainment industry; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Founded in 1893, the International Alliance of | ||
| Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) represents behind-the-scenes | ||
| professionals, including technicians, designers, and stagehands, | ||
| in a broad spectrum of trades; the alliance encompasses more than | ||
| 340 local unions and over 168,000 workers, who bring their | ||
| invaluable technical expertise to bear in countless stage, film, | ||
| and television productions as well as trade shows and exhibitions | ||
| across the United States and Canada; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Driven by their pride in their craft and their | ||
| commitment to fairness and dignity in the workplace, the members | ||
| of IATSE Local 76 have built and sustained the success of their | ||
| chapter for well over a century; the chapter's service area | ||
| includes such celebrated local cultural venues as the Joci Straus | ||
| Performing Arts Center, the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, | ||
| the AT&T Center, and the Witte Museum, and its support for its | ||
| members extends to an array of payroll, organizational, and | ||
| online resources; and | ||
| WHEREAS, IATSE Local 76 has served as a vital force for | ||
| equity in entertainment, giving voice and power to the | ||
| often-invisible professionals who bring productions to life in | ||
| the Alamo City, and the chapter and its hardworking members are | ||
| indeed worthy of recognition on this special milestone; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor the International | ||
| Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Local 76, on its 125th | ||
| anniversary and extend to all those affiliated with the chapter | ||
| sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for IATSE Local 76 as an expression of high regard from | ||
| the Texas Senate. | ||
